For most people, privacy and security while searching the web aren’t really the forerunners of thought. However, it is good to ask yourself who and what is watching or following you around the web and what can you do about it? Therefore it is always a good idea to think twice before clicking a link and hitting send as it could save you from some serious issues such as data loss, breach of security and even identity theft. In reality, although the web seems friendly and safe, there is a dark side to the light (as there always is) and one must always be alert to potential scams and predators.
Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
It was very Interesting looking back and being able to see the numerous sites I visited today and how each site is connected to each other like a large web. I didn’t realize how much of the internet I could access in such a short time and how accurate cookies are at tracking web movement.
Cookies may not seem so bad, they actually seem quite friendly, however remember that dark side of the internet? Well these cookies are basically like those double flavoured Oreos, one light and one very dark side. Cookies can be placed on your computer with out you knowing therefore tracking your every move in secret. I find that quite unnerving, don’t you? You never know who is watching when you search the web and it is scary to think an invisible cookie could even be viewing and remembering private information such as passwords while online banking or even credit card numbers while online shopping.
That is why it is incredibly important to exercise caution while exploring the web as you never know who may be dipping into your cookie jar.
